Andreea Nikolajsen, consultant in DGI Western Jutland, participated in MOVE Congress 2023 in Madrid, which left her inspired and with an even greater international network.
This year, ISCA and the Danish sports organisation DGI are hosting MOVE Congress 2025 in Copenhagen, the capital city of Denmark. Among the participants is Andreea Nikolajsen, a consultant at DGI West Jutland. She also participated in 2023, which left her inspired.
“One and a half years later, I still think it was fantastic. More people should experience it.”
MOVE Congress 2023 took place in Madrid. Andreea Nikolajsen travelled to the Spanish capital with her colleague, Josefine Gadgaard, with a specific goal in mind.
“The congress was an excellent opportunity to get to know other stakeholders who share our interests: public health, activity development, inclusion of children and youth, and healthy ageing. We greatly value international cooperation at DGI West Jutland, and we are working to secure more European projects, which require a large network,” she says.
Two events MOVED Andreea Nikolajsen
During the three days in Madrid, Andreea Nikolajsen engaged with and expanded her international network at inspirational events. Two events in particular made a great impression on her.
One was about the Finnish project Icehearts, which focuses on supporting children in vulnerable positions to participate in sports activities. The event was structured with various stations where one could talk to volunteers, municipal representatives, and project leaders.
“It was very comprehensive and powerful to get so many perspectives on a community project that bridges the gap between associations and civil society. I have been able to actively use that part in our work here at home with the same target groups,” says Andreea Nikolajsen.
The other event that moved Andreea Nikolajsen was with Joël Kruisselbrink and Bewegen is Leven from the Netherlands, who facilitates training for the elderly in nursing homes. She was inspired to work with this target group and took the inspiration to the project Active Brain Games.

ISCA established the MOVE Congress 16 years ago to bring together experts, practitioners, and advocates in one place to facilitate active networking and knowledge-sharing. This year’s event, which will be held at the Tivoli Hotel and Congress Centre in the heart of the Danish capital, promises to be the most exciting and influential to date.
